Odd Rooms
  Places and Spaces: Odd Rooms

Some spaces are very hard to work with.

Evaluating the basic structure is the best place to start. Often, odd shaped rooms or spaces within a room can be inspiring.

Flat no character spaces may benefit from a Frank Lloyd Wright influence and some nooks and crannies.

This house not only needed updating, it needed major help.

There was a wall that went from the back of the long hall to the patio doors at the opposite end of the house and someone put a mirror at the end of the hall.

The dining room was mirrored in and the geometric windows did not sit evenly with continued slant to a lower level on one side of the wall.

Designing for Odd Rooms

A lowered ceiling in the reading nook balanced the geometric windows in the space.

Removing the mirrored dining room wall opened the space and a built out bar area provided a passageway to the kitchen and pool and away from the living room.
